There was a time when T G Ravi was the man against whom any hero in any Malayalam movie had to go up against and boy did he play a bad guy well! During the late 70s and early 80s, along with Balan K nair, he was perhaps one of the most feared villains in south Indian cinema.
He retired from acting altogether in the eighties, while he was at his career high, and then went on to pursue other endeavours quiet successfully – as a businessman, public figure and as a family man. After his return to acting in 2006, he has mostly played small supporting roles in movies but now the ‘old T G Ravi’ is making a comeback!
Yes – he is all set to play the main antagonist in Ranjith Sankar’s Varsham which stars Mammootty!
The director thinks this is the right move and that Ravi suits the role quite well, and will be able to give a smashing performance. The confident film maker also believes this will be one of Mammootty’s best roles to date – now that is definitely a lot to say!
This flick is starting to look mighty interesting..
The story, according to reports, revolves around an ordinary man whose life goes haywire due to certain events and his involvement in which has far reaching consequences. The title of the movie has a certain relevance to the storyline, which the director has not yet divulged to the media.
The film is set to start filming on June 20th and the release date set as of now is October 2nd of this year. It is being produced by Ranjith’s own production company in association with Mammootty’s Playhouse.
The cinematography will be handled by Sujith Vaasudev and Bijipal will score the tunes.
