T, Andhra leaders to meet Sonia!

Around 200 Congress leaders going to attend the November 2 AICC session in Delhi as special invitees will make use of the occasion to press their demands for united Andhra Pradesh and separate Telangana.

It is a practice of the Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, to meet party leaders of each state and listen to them.

Several leaders hailing from both the Seema-Andhra and Telangana regions have decided to raise the contentious issue of state bifurcation on the sidelines of AICC meet.

“We will definitely meet senior leaders and the Congress president to impress upon them about the need to continue the AP state in its existing form,” said the minister, Mr Gade Venkata Reddy, who hails from Seema-Andhra.

At the same time, the Karimnagar Congress MP, Ponnam Prabhakar, said Telangana leaders would also meet the AICC bosses in groups to press for the separate state demand.

Though leaders who belong to different regions will explain their point of view, they realise that the final decision on bifurcation of state will be taken by Mrs Gandhi after Justice Sri Krishna panel submits its report to the Centre.

“She will decide the issue and it is our duty to impress upon her about the feelings of people of our region,” said a senior leader.
