Actor Suriya and company, also referred to as Team Anjaan, visited Kerala this last Saturday to promote their movie. Suriya has a huge fan following in Kerala and needless to say he was met with open arms and loud cheers from hundreds here.
The team held their promotional event, one of many they have conducted so far, at the Kavitha theatre in Kochi and it was a packed house. The actor was humble and charming as ever without any false bravado or airs, and this seems to have pleased the fans even more.
But it was one particular thing he mentioned that turned a few heads and got what must have been some pretty huge rounds of applause.
Suriya made a sincere confession in which he said his greatest professional wish has always been to act with the one and only complete actor, Mohanlal! He added that he would without a doubt jump on any opportunity he would get to act with Mohanlal, whenever it may come – if it comes!
This of course made the actor’s fans present, many of whom are also great Mohanlal fans very happy customers!
Now was this simply a ploy to get the people on his side? Me thinks… no! These were not insincere words.
The actor has, on several occasions prior to this, expressed his deep admiration for Mohanlal as an actor and in an interview once especially, had said that Mohanlal’s acting was so effortless and natural that when he acted “even his knuckles spoke”
.
Now that, my friends, is quite a compliment coming from an actor of Suriya’s calibre!
So, a proud day for Mohanlal and Mollywood fans everywhere! The Universal Star for the win!
Anjaan, which will release in Kerala without dubbing, on August 15th, stars Suriya and Samantha in the lead roles. It has been directed by N Lingusamy and is being produced by Lingusamy’s own company Thiruppathi Brothers in association with UTV Motion Pictures.
