Suraj Venjaaramoodu has been on cloud nine in days past with his unexpected win for Best Actor at the national film awards for his performance in the movie Perariyathavar. However, the actor had assured the media in the following days that he would continue to do comedic roles as that was his bread and butter and true to his word the movie ‘Garbhasreeman’ was due to be released with him in the lead role.
Now, it seems the intriguing movie with Suraj playing a lead for the first time has met a formidable legal roadblock.
A man named Sudheesh Kumar from Perumbavoor has filed a claim in court against the movie accusing the makers of using his story and screen play without his permission and as a result an interim stay has been issued by the High Court of Kerala, regarding the movie’s release.
The credits of the movie, on record, shows Haneesh Pavithran as the writer of the story and Suvachan as that of the screenplay.
The posters of the flick show Suraj looking… well, pregnant – with an exposed round belly, somewhat reminiscent of Arnold Schwarzengger in the hit Hollywood comedy Junior.
The movie has been directed by cinematographer Anil Gopinath and was produced by T S Jayakumar and Koyippuram Rajendran under the banner of JK Productions. Ouseppachan is the composer bringing to life Vayalar Sharathchandra Varma’s lyrics.
Manoj K Jyan, Shammi Thilakan, Nedumudi Venu, Kochu Preman, Kottayam Nazeer and Kalabhavan Shajon form the supporting cast.
We’ll have to wait and see what fate has in store for this film with a unique premise…
