Story:

The film has got an exciting storyline. Karthik (Sumanth) is an atheist and is involved in the research of a lot of ancient temples. One day, Karthik makes his visit to an ancient village named Subrahmanyapuram where he witnesses a lot of series of suicides. There is a belief in the village that the suicides are because of a God’s wrath on them. Karthik opposes it and he believes that there is a foul play involved in it and he starts investigating the deaths. What did Sumanth learn from these suicides? What is the reason for the deaths? What happens in the end? Forms the story of the movie.

Performances:

Sumanth, with the success of Malli Rava, is confident about all his upcoming movies. With this film, he has set up an interesting premise by portraying the character of an atheist very well. His performance is strong and he did well in the emotional scenes. The scenes with the heroine have also come out well. The heroine Eesha Rebba performed her character well in the film as a village girl. She is beautiful in the movie and performed well in whatever scenes she acted in. Senior actor Suresh played a key role in the film and impressed everyone. The rest of the actors are good and made their presence felt.

Writing Department:

The director himself is a writer for the movie. The story has nothing great as it appears completely routine in the movie. There are a lot of routine scenes and the concept that the director has chosen was conveyed in a conventional manner because of which the audiences will feel bored. The screenplay is flat and hardly gains any momentum.

Technical Aspects:

Rana Daggubati’s voice-over helped the film gain momentum but the narration of the movie is very flat. The film’s camera work is decent and the cinematographer tried to elevate the movie whenever necessary. The music of the movie is a failure as no song in the film has impressed the listeners. The background score of the movie is just okay. The artwork is nice and the production design has quality. The casting could have been much better in the movie. The production values of the film are rich.

Verdict:

The main problem for the film is the story. The film’s plotline is thin and the director wasted a lot of time in the beginning in conveying the subject to the audiences. The establishment took time and it was improper. There are more scenes in the film than the story and because of this, the screenplay could not get a proper shape. More or less, the film is targeted on the rural audiences as the content presented in the movie hardly makes any impression with the urban audiences and A center viewers. The director could have worked more on the script to make it more thrilling and engaging. On the whole, Subrahmanyapuram is a mediocre attempt which could have been much better.
