Sridevi in Drishyam Tamil remake too?

With Ekta Kapoor filing a petition against the makers of the Malayalam version of Drishyam, one would suppose that would be the spotlight hogger when it comes to the super hit movie and its remakes, but surprisingly that doesn’t seem to be the case!

Sridevi-in-Tamil-Drishyam-Remake

Yes, the Tamil remake of Drishyam, with Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan in the lead, which had its pooja a few days back is still making big news and this time we have another legendary name in the mix.

It seems the sweetheart of Indian cinema, the yesteryear queen of Bollywood, Sridevi Kapoor too has been offered a significant role in the Tamil adaptation of the film!

But the fans please note, the role in question here will not be that one opposite Kamal Haasan as his wife, but rather the role of the high ranking female cop played by Asha Sharath in the Malayalam and Kannada versions. It is a role that will essentially make her Kamal’s nemesis in the storyline!

The Kamal – Sridevi pairing of course, is the stuff of screen legend and the story of this one is good enough to recreate some of that onscreen magic or so thinks Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor, who is impressed by the project and is reportedly in talks with Kamal Haasan.

Sridevi, who has been taking a break since making her comeback with English Vinglish, made the decision to return to Kollywood, after a lengthy 28 years, when she accepted the role in the Vijay 58 movie. If she gives the green light to Drishyam, she will be shooting for it in quick succession after the Vijay flick.

Drishyam’s Tamil remake still remains untitled and is being directed by Jeethu Joseph who directed the original Mollywood version. M Ghibran will be the one composing the melodies or so the sources say and if true, that makes it the third consecutive project that he is collaborating with Kamal on, after Vishwaroopam 2 and Uthama Villain.

The project is now planned to be launched in the first week of August.
