Noted play back singer and Carnatic vocalist Nithyasree committed suicide in her house after hearing the news of her husband’s death in Chennai on Thursday, December 20.As per the reports she consumed poison and imediately she was rushed to a nearby hospital and she is doing fine. But the sad news is that Nithyasree’s husband V. Mahadevan committed suicide by jumping into the Adyar river from the Kotturpuram bridge in Chennai on Thursday afternoon.
Around 12.20 p.m., Mahadevan (45) drove his Honda City with driver Suresh in the passenger seat. While heading towards Kotturpuram, he suddenly stopped the car on the bridge, ran out and jumped into the river.People who saw him jump off the bridge into the river called the fire and rescue service.
Rescue personnel pulled him out and an ambulance took him to a private hospital around 1.30pm. Soon, doctors in the hospital declared him dead.The body was taken to a private hospital and later sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital for a post-mortem examination. It was handed over to the family in the evening.
The couple have two daughters Tanujasree and Tejasree Janani.Nithyashree’s popular film songs include Kannodu Kanbadellam in Jeans, Minsara Kanna in Padayappa and Sowkiyama Kannae in Sangamam among others.
