Popular playback singer K. S. Chithra’s eight year old daughter died today (April 14th, 2011) in Dubai. As per the reports the little girl Nandana died after falling in a swimming pool at a Dubai villa this morning.
Nandana, who was in Dubai with her mother and her singing troupe, drowned in a swimming pool at a villa in Emirates Hills. The young girl was immediately rushed to a hospital in Jebel Ali, where she succumbed.
Popularly known as ‘Little Nightingale’ of South India, Chithra has sung songs in films of more than 10 languages and has received six national awards among other laurels. Chithra and her husband Vijayashankar were blessed with their daughter after nearly fifteen years of marriage.
The singer and her troupe are in Dubai to participate in a musical extravaganza to celebrate the compositions of Oscar winner music director A. R. Rahman at Sharjah Cricket Stadium today.
Many more Indian celebrities including AR Rehaman, sister of AR RAhman, Naresh Iyer, Sayanora, Abdul Salam and others are in town for the show. The playback singer was staying at the residence of Dileep Rahulan, leading Indian businessman. AR Rahman, the Oscar Winning Indian musician is not attending the show.
