Shwetha Menon has done a lot of interesting roles and been through quite an intriguing few years during her career in Mollywood. Now she has chosen to make another noteworthy decision – to play the female lead in the flick Mazhayariyathe, opposite none other than actor/director Baburaj!
The movie will be directed by Thilak Raj.
This will be the first time the two are paired together on screen, though they have appeared together in some of the same movies before, like the eminently memorable Salt n Pepper.
Salt n Pepper, which saw Shwetha again in a unique lead role, meant something completely different for the career of Baburaj. The actor had, prior to that, been the baddie you loved to hate in almost all the films he had made. It was in Salt n Pepper that he got to flex his ‘comedic muscles’ for the very first time and the audiences just loved it.
He has since done many humorous projects, and his latest one in the same broad vein would be the upcoming Mohanlal flick Peruchazhi.
Baburaj has also directed a film – Black Dahlia, which starred his wife and actress, Vani Vishwanath in the lead. That one though did not make much of an impact at the box office.
Shwetha, meanwhile has been following a path which defies type casting in every sense of the word. She won critical acclaim and awards for her performance in the movie Paleri Manikyam. Blessy’s Kalimannu, however, got her some heat for a controversial scene that involved childbirth, along with fan adoration and praise.
She is always looking for the most artistically enticing roles available and is very picky about the projects she does. The Madhupal directorial venture Ozhimuri would be a good example.
She also has redefined the ageless glamour and sex appeal factor through movies like the Rathinirvedam remake.
It would indeed be interesting to see what project it is that brings these two talented and charismatic artists together. So we have but no choice but to wait for more news about the proposed Thilak Raj flick.
