Cast and Performance

Shourya Telugu Movie Still

Manchu Manoj as Shourya is super cool. He is seen in a tender role for the first time in his career. He played it quite simple and has tried different in terms of his characterisation. He looks glamorous on screen with his chubby looks and dimple cheeks. Regina Cassandra as Nethra is good. She has played her part well within her given length of role. Obviously she also looks beautiful. Prakash Raj as Krishna Prasad is fantastic as usual. He did superb job as investigator of Nethra’s murder case. Benerjee is good in his limited role. Siva Prasad is fine. Nagineedu as Nethra’s father is nice. He is getting the same roles in all the movies. Ajay is superb. Prabhas Seenu is hilarious. Nandu, Shayaji Shinde are good. Brahmanandam shines in his regular way. Other actors did their part well.

Writing Department

Premise of the story is interesting. Scenes written are regular and old. Screenplay is a big let down to the movie. It fails to engage the audience. Screenplay writer Kishore Gopu should have taken much care. Dialogues are mediocre.

Technical Departments

Songs composed by K Veda are just okay. They seem to be heard before. He tried to give his best with background score. But it is also a failure attempt. Cinematography by Malhar Bhatt Joshi is superb. His work in some scenes is worth mentioning. Editing by S R Sekkhar is fine. Art work is good. Production Values are good.

Highlights

  • Manchu Manoj
  • Prakash Raj
  • Twists

Minus

  • Slow Paced Screenplay
  • Non-Situational Songs

Verdict

First half of the movie is quite slow. When the movie enters flashback mode it becomes more slow. Sharpness in the screenplay is missing. Love track between Manchu Manoj and Regina Cassandra is shown in a very regular and formulaic way. Hero is of Lord Rama character type and heroine is of helping nature. Prabhas Seenu tries very hard to generate laughs but fails to some extent. Two non-situational songs which comes in the first 30 mins of the movie acts as speed breaker to the slow flow of the movie. It ends with a twist in the tale. Necessary curiosity is generated among the audience with the interval episode. Second half starts with better screenplay than first half. Brahmanandam makes entry as sports minister and scenes of Manoj playing Tom and Jerry games with Brahmi starts with Raakasi, another non-situational song in the background. Twists in the second half forms the crux of the story. To sum up, Shourya is a slow paced thriller.
