At the age of heroines, legendary actress Sridevi dared to be an actor and proved her mettle. She went on to become one of Tollywood’s biggest actress in the 80s and the 90s. But now it’s very hard to say goodbye to the iconic actress Sridevi.
Things to know about Sridevi’s sudden death:
Sridevi passed away on Saturday (11-11.30 PM) following a cardiac arrest in Dubai.
She was in UAE to attend nephew Mohit Marwaha’s wedding.
At the time of death, Boney Kapoor and her second daughter stayed with her in Dubai.
After massive heart attack, she was alive for few minutes in hospital.
Her acting prowess:
Sridevi, who made her acting debut at the age of four, was especially noted for her impeccable timing as a comedienne.
Soon after her marriage, she took a 15-year hiatus break from movies in 1997, . She returned in 2012’s English Vinglish and stunned fans with her performance as a villainous queen in Vijay’s Puli, which also marked her comeback to Tamil cinema after a gap of more than two decades.
Sridevi also notched up credits in Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu in the 1970s and ’80s, making her one of the most hard-working actresses of those decades.
She was paired with legendary NT Rama Rao in Vetegaadu (1979), Sardar Papa Rayadu (1980) and Justice Chowdhury (1982). And she acted with several star heroes in Tollywood. She won millions of hearts with her acting in Padaharella vayasu and Megastar’s jagadeka veerudu Athiloka Sundari. In between, she made a soft debut in Hindi films through Solva Savan in 1979.
Sridevi was nominated for 10 Filmfare Awards and won five. The government of India awarded her Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honor, in 2013.
