Yesteryear Bollywood queen Rekha turned down the offer to play actor Vishal’s mother’s character in the upcoming Tamil flick Poojai. Unfortunately for the director, the actress rejected the role on the grounds that she was “too busy with other commitments”.
The director of the movie is Hari, who initially had his heart set on the actress playing the hero’s mother and was hoping for her green signal to go ahead as it would only have required a few days out of her schedule, for a brief time in the year.
But Rekha was disinterested in committing to the project and the director has now roped in Radhika Sarathkumar for the same role.
Poojai is a film which is being produced by the fiery action star Vishal, in addition to having him play the lead, also stars the sensational Shruthi Hassan in the female lead. Sathyaraj, Mukesh Tiwari, Renuka, Jayaprakash, Prathap Pothen and others form the supporting cast.
The movie will, for that added sizzle, feature a hot song starring the multi talented and gorgeous Andrea Jeremiah.
Too bad though that Rekhaji couldn’t say yes – it would have been a feather in the cap for the film makers given that the actress not only is a legend in her own right but also is the daughter of the legendary Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan.
