Sanju is an upcoming Indian biographical film directed by Rajkumar Hirani, written by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi and jointly produced by Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Indian actor Sanjay Dutt, in various stages of his life.
Meanwhile, the film’s producer recently opened up about selecting Ranbir Kapoor for the lead role. He said that he initially considered Ranveer Singh for the role and added that he was finally surprised with the way Ranbir performed.
“When Raj approached me, I thought what’s so interesting in Sanjay Dutt’s life but once he narrated the story to me, I realized the struggles that he underwent in his life. There are many truths that we depicted in the film. Later, I felt Ranveer Singh would be the right choice for the film but Sanjay said that Ranbir will be a perfect choice. After we started the shoot, I realized that Ranbir is a great performer.” said Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
The film is set to be released on 29 June 2018.
