Post imposing restraining order against the film, Ram Leela, the Delhi Court has now vacated the stay for sometime and allowed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali to release the film as per schedule. Ram Leela screens worldwide tomorrow.
After receiving the restraining order, Bhansali wrote a letter to the Court and the NGO who have filed the petition that his film is not representing any mythological folklore nor is it hurting the sentiments based on Lord Rama. He stated that Ram Leela is a direct adaption of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
The religious groups have strongly objected the use of title ‘Ram Leela’ to such a romantic film that bears no connection with the name. The songs in the film ooze sensuality, making the protesters very unhappy.
The film stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the lead. Produced by Eros. the music has been composed by Bhansali himself.
