Actor Rajashekhar and his wife Jeevitha lashed out at the Praja Rajyam chief, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, for his remarks that the Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was corrupt.
The actor couple, who are members of the Congress, alleged that Mr Chiranjeevi was trying to ‘divide’ the Congress in the state with an eye on the Chief Minister’s seat.
“Chiranjeevi earlier created a rift amongst actors in Tollywood and is trying to make the most of misunderstandings in the Congress and project himself as the only alternative,” said Mr Rajasekhar.
He alleged that Mr Chiranjeevi, who “sold the blood” donated by his fans to his blood bank, has no moral right to make allegations on Mr Jagan.
“Mr Chiranjeevi never cared to meet his fans and he is jealous that so many people come to Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Odarpu yatra,” said Mr Rajashekhar.
He urged the party chief, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, not to accept the support of Mr Chiranjeevi who wanted to make the most of the misunderstandings in the party. The actor couple reminded that Mr Chiranjeevi and his brother, Mr Pawan Kalyan, had told people to chase the dhoti clad Congress leaders and made personal remarks against everyone in the party.
They addressed the press conference against Mr Chiranjeevi at the AP Film Chamber of Commerce. Once the chamber officials realised that the actors were making political allegations, they were asked to leave immediately.
