PRP favours Samaikhyandhra

The Praja Rajyam Party had favoured integrated state. The party had met the Srikrishna Committee at Lakeview Guest House in Hyderabad on Thursday and submitted a memorandum.

The PRP said that majority of the people, including the peoples’ representatives were in favour of integrated state. The party felt that the state should not be divided on the grounds of backwardness. If the state is to be divided on the grounds of backwardness, it should be divided into five states – Andhra, North Telangana, South Telangana, Rayalaseem and Uttarandhra.

The PRP also wanted the Srikrishna Committee to have national policy on smaller states. The party felt that more demands for separate states would come forward if Telangana demand is accepted.

The party wanted the Central government to evolve a national policy and take up the issue for wider debate in Parliament.
