Producer held for cheating

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested film producer Mallidi Satya Narayana Reddy after he was convicted in a cheating case.

M.S.N. Reddy has produced hit Telugu movies including Bunny (starring Allu Arjun), Dee (starring) Manchu Vishnu and Bhag-eeratha (starring Ravi Teja).

M.S.N. Reddy, who owns Siri Venkateswara Films, has also made a film with his son Venkat as the lead actor. The film titled Premalekha Raasa was made about two years ago.

According to the CBI superintendent of police, Mr H. Venkatesh, the case was booked against M.S.N. Reddy in 1987 and a trial for the same had begun in 1989 and he was convicted by a lower court for cheating the Punjab National Bank (PNB) to the tune of Rs 12 lakh.

Later the conviction was upheld by a higher court and an NBW was issued after Supreme Court also upheld the case.
“He had been evading arrest since January 2009. He was arrested in the city and sent to Chanchalguda central prison for undergoing rigorous imprisonment for two years.”
