After the Central Board of Film Certification board members resigning over the film by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh MSG: The Messenger of God, Filmmaker and Producer, Pahlaj Nihalani has been anointed as the CBFC Chief.
Now you might as well be wondering about the man! Who he is and what movies has he produced? Then let us brief you about the new Chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification, Pahlaj Nihalani.
1.He is the younger brother of Govind Nihalani who has made great films in his career and holds a number of awards.
2.Pahlaj completed 30 years in film industry and has been producing films since the 80s.
3.His first production was ‘Haathkadi’ in 1982 which had Shatrugan Sinha, Sanjeev Kumar, Reena Roy and Simi Greval. Also for the first time Rakesh Roshan played a grey shade character in the film.
4.He launched Govinda in Ilzaam (1986) and Chunky Pandey in Aag Hi Aag (1987).
5.Aag Hi Aag was his career’s first hit. It had Dharmendra and Chunky Pandey in lead roles.
6.In 1992, big hit came his way in terms of “Shola Aur Shabnam” starring Govinda and Divya Bharti.
7.Next year in 1993, his film “Aankhen” starring Govinda, Chunky Pandey, Kader Khan was a huge success. Much so that it became a cult entertainer.
8.He then made films like Dil Tera Deewana (1996), Bhai Bhai (1997), which couldn’t create any wonders at the Box-Office and flopped badly.
9.His directorial debut came with “Uljhan” in 2001, and even that flopped.
10.His next film was Akshay Kumar- Kareena Kapoor starrer Talaash: The Hunt Begins in 2001. Even that tanked at the Box Office, that too badly.
11.His last production venture was by the name “Khooshboo: The Fragrance of Love”. Like most of his films, even that performed badly. And post that he stopped making films.
12.Pahlaj was seen in a cameo in 2008 in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Halla Bol which had Ajay Devgn and Vidya Balan in key roles.
