Social networking site Facebook has set a limit allowing users to have only 5000 friends.
According to Facebook spokeswoman Meredith Chin, only “a fraction of a percent” of the site’s 400 million global users has topped the limit, making the few that do have 5,000 pals a new, albeit strange, sort of elite.
The site put a restriction for “back-end” technical reasons, but users can also create “fan” pages, which have no limit, the New York Post reported.
