Notification for Kadapa bypolls!

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday issued notification for the bypolls to Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies.

According to the notification, the last date for filing nominations will be April 18, scrutiny of nominations will be done on April 19. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 21 while polling will take place on May 8. The results will be announced on May 13.

Electronic voting machines will be used during the polling which would be held between 8 am to 5 pm. The district authorities have issued photo identity cards (EPICs) to all the voters in these two constituencies, the EC said.

The EC for the first time has decided to allow registration of new voters in these constituencies till April 18, the last date for nominations. There are 12.88 lakh voters in the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency and 1.82 lakh voters in the Pulivendula Assembly constituency.

Meanwhile, the YSR Congress party has urged the chief electoral officer Bhanwar Lal to see that the ministers, who have been made in-charge for the polls, be asked to resign from their posts.

A delegation of the party leaders G Ramchander, Usha Rani and others said that there is a possibility of misuse of power during the elections by the ministers. The leaders demanded that agriculture minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s resignation be accepted soon.(TNN)
