Nivin Pauly is definitely the fastest rising young star in Mollywood, in no small part thanks to the back to back hits he delivered like Thattathin Marayathu, Om Shanthi Oshana, 1983 and Bangalore Days.
But now he is about to embark upon what might be the next chapter in his career, scaling new heights of stardom – he is going to be the lead actor in a Maniratnam movie!
Yes, apparently Maniratnam is scouting the young talent in Malayalam cinema, as it was reported early on that he intended to cast Dulquer Salman in his next project. Now you might be wondering if that has changed at all. No it hasn’t.
Dulquer and Nivin will be sharing the screen space in this untitled project which will be a remake of the movie Mounaragam, which was also directed by Maniratnam. Nivin will be essaying the role originally done by Mohan, and Dulquer will tackle the role brought to life by Karthik.
So changes and tweaks all around to make the movie more entertaining for the current generation of movie goers. But it doesn’t end there – Ilayaraja, who composed the music for Mounaragam, will not be doing the same for this youthful remake. Instead that task will fall upon none other than the one and only AR Rahman!
The rest of the cast and crew details are yet to be revealed.
It is however worth noting at this point that the last time Nivin Pauly and Dulquer Salman shared screen space was in the biggest hit in Mollywood history – Bangalore Days. So their onscreen chemistry and compatibility as actors has been proved beyond any shadow of a doubt.
Adding Maniratnam to the mix as well means what might be an iconic and memorable movie in the making. Let us keep our fingers crossed…
