Nigerian police arrests man carrying 70 dead babies

A man carrying bags containing more than 70 dead babies has been arrested in Nigeria’s economic capital Lagos. "We have started questioning the man and we have also invited the people he claimed were his accomplices but it appears to be a corruption case not human trafficking nor ritual, nor murder," Lagos State Police Spokesman, Mr Frank Mba, told PTI. According to police, the man has told them that he was employed by the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) to take the corpses to a cemetery. Police have asked some LUTH staff to appear for questioning. Meanwhile, the man told a local television channel that he was normally paid to bury the corps in a cemetery, which ran out of space thereby forcing him to look for alternative place to get rid of the bodies. Bodies often pose a big problem for hospital mortuaries in Lagos with little spaces and heavy odours often emanate from them to the discomfiture of passers by and people leaving around them.(PTI)
