Nawazuddin Siddiqui Forcibly Removed from Ram Leela

After giving an ultimatum to Pakistani actors to leave the country, the xenophobic Shiv Sena is now targeting Muslim actors it seems.


On the occasion of Dasara festival, Ram Leela play is the major attraction in North. Noted Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s native village Badhana in Uttar Pradesh is famous for Ram Leela act. The actor, who grew up watching Ram Leela in his village, wanted to essay a character in the play and the organizer couldn’t reject him as he was a big star now. People gathered in huge number to watch Nawaz on stage.

However, just two hours before the start of the play, the organizers removed Nawaz from the play. It was heard that Shiv Sena activists were against the idea of a Muslim actor taking part in Ram Leela, which was a Hindu event. Saying he didn’t want to create communal violence, Nawaz left to Mumbai.
