Legendary Hindi music director Khayyam has announced to donate his entire fortune valued at Rs 10 crore to struggling actors and technicians in the film industry.
He formed a charitable trust named ‘Khayyam Jagjeet Kaur’ KPG Charitable Trust on the eve of his 89th birthday and decided to help struggling and budding artists in the film industry since he was also a struggler when he came to Mumbai with several dreams and nothing in his pocket.
In a career spanning four decades, Khayyam composed music for several classic films. He worked with some of the greatest lyricists and singers of the nation. The renowned music director was also honored with the Padma Bhushan by the Indian Government in 2011.
Khayyam won three Film Fare Awards in his career including lifetime achievement award in 2010.
