The Central Crime Station on Thursday registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy against the MIM MLA, Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi, Malakpet MLA Mr Ahmed Balala, his gunman Mr Jani Miya and Maisaram MIM corporator Mr Mansoor Awalqi on the complaint of Mr Awad Bin Younus Yafai, brother of slain Ibrahim Bin Younus Yafai.
The AP High Court had directed the Hyderabad police to investigate the incident of firing by Mr Balala’s gunman during the attack on Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi.
In the complaint Mr Awad alleged that his brother Ibrahim Yafai had died due to a bullet injury received from Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi.
He also alleged that Mr Owaisi and his followers had planned to kill the members of the Yafai family to eliminate political opposition. He stated that the gunman and Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi had opened fire at him and his brother Ibrahim at the office of local Corporator Mr Mansoor Awalqi.
According to Mr Yafai, there were around 50 supporters of Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi, when the incident took place. He added that he and his brother had been shot and when he regained consciousness in the hospital, he was informed that his brother had died.
Mr Yafai, who is currently undergoing treatment for bullet injuries at the Yashoda Hospital, also stated in his complaint that during the general elections in 2009, his uncle Mr Mohammed Pahelwan had not supported Mr Owaisi.
This prompted the latter to develop a grudge against the family.(DC)
