It is very common to get introduced as a lead actor if we hail from big and influential families of the movie industry. This formula helps until the first show of that hero’s first movie or first day and after that even show should run on the name of that hero with this potential acting capability and the merit of that film. Akhil Akkineni is one such actor who hails from the Akkineni family. His two movies had already released and they failed to reach the expectations of the audience and ended up as disappointments. Venky Atluri, who made Tholiprema with Varun Tej is now teamed up with Akhil for a movie titled Mr Majnu under the production of BVSN Prasad of Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra. Let’s see how it works on us as it is releasing into theatres today.

Cast and performances

Akhil Akkineni who played the lead role Vicky is good. His looks and his presence are good. Nidhi Aggarwal is fine in her role as Nikki. Priyadarshi and Hyper Adhi generate a few laughs. Rao Ramesh, Nagababu, Jaya Prakash, Sitara and Pavitra Lokesh are good as the elders in the love story. Vidyulleka Raman and Subbaraj are underutilised. All other actors are good at what they are given.

The story of Mr Majnu is a known one and the screenplay disappoints. Dialogues are good.

Technical Departments

The Songs composed by SS Thaman are nice though the sounding remember us his previous songs. The background score he composed for this movie is good but many of the tracks seemed like an extension of Aravindha Sametha score. Cinematography by George Williams is good. Editing could have been better to make this movie racier. Action department has done a good job. The production values of SVCC are grand.

Verdict

Mr Majnu is a story of a guy who is well known for his cupid things and how he fell in love of a girl seriously. The movie starts off by introducing Akhil Akkineni as a playboy in which that element to make us believe he is a charmer has gone over the board. The first half works well with not many boring sequences and ends on an emotional note. The second half starts with the same emotion and it drags and drags and drags until the audience are fed up. There is nothing much in this second half but a hero trying to convince his love interest with the use of people surround him as scapegoats. This is a formula which is seen by us from the past decade, thanks to Srinu Vaitla. Director Venky Atluri who has done fantastic work for his debut film Tholiprema has failed to create the magic of love story with this film. To sum up, Mr Majnu is another disappointment for Akhil.
