1. Gandhi (1982):
This film is based on the real-life incidents that occurred in Indian Freedom Fighter Mahatma Gandhi. This film is directed by Richard Attenborough and Stars Ben Kingsley in the lead role. Gandhi had won 8 Oscars Awards in 1983.
2. Border (1997):
Border is war film that resembled the Indo-Pak war in 1971. Directed by J.P Dutta, this film showed how a band of 120 Indian soldiers successfully defended their camp all night against Pakistan Army until assistance came from Indian Air Force next morning. 3. The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002):
It is a historical, biographical film, which portrayed how Bhagat Singh-A freedom fighter fought against the rule of British for Independent India. The film ends with Bhagat Singh(Ajay Degan) along with Shivaram Rajguru(Santosh), Sukhdev (Sushant Singh) being hanged by the British. This Raj Kumar Santoshi directed film won Two National Awards.
4. Bose-The Forgotten Hero (2004):
The film represents the journey of Indian Independence Leader-Subash Chandra Bose. Sachin Khedekar played the role of Bose, while Shyam Benegal directed the film. This film won National Award for its Art Direction.
5. Guru (2007):
Guru is an Indian drama film loosely based on the life of Dhirubhai Ambani, a business magnate who founded Reliance Industries. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were seen in the lead roles, directed by Mani Ratnam and Music by A.R.Rahman.

Silk Smitha-A noted South Indian actress who is known for her erotic roles; The Dirty Picture was made. Silk Smitha is a famous actress who has seen ups and downs in her life and later on committed suicide for her failure in movies. Vidya Balan can be seen in the role of Silk Smitha, which was directed by Milan Luthria.
7. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013):
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is a biopic made on Milkha Singh, an Indian athlete who was a national champion runner and an Olympian. Farhan Akhtar has played the role of Milkha Singh. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has directed this 2013 biopic that gained good praises for the emotion’s it carried. This film has picked two National Film Awards and many more private awards.
8. Paan Singh Tomar (2013):
Paan Singh Tomar is a soldier in Indian Army who wins a gold medal at Indian National Games, who is forced to become a notorious bandit. Irrfan Khan plays the title role in the film that was directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. This film won the Best Feature Film and Best Actor at National Awards.
9.The Attacks of 26/11 (2013):
This film was made by real events that lead to the attack by Pakistan terrorist’s on Mumbai’s Taj Hotel on 26/11 leaving 164 dead. This film also features the character of Ajmal Kasab-the lone terrorist survivor during the attack. Ram Gopal Varma directed this much-claimed movie.
10. Mary Kom (2014):
Mary Kom is Indian biographical sports drama based on Mary Kom-an Indian women boxer who is a five-time World Amateur Boxing Championship. Priyanka Chopra played the leading role of Mary Kom. This film was produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and is directed by Omung Kumar. The movie won a National Award for providing Wholesome Entertainment.
