Though Kadapa Member of Parliament YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s `Odarpu Yatra’ evoked tremendous response in West Godavari district, it received mixed response in Telangana district of Khammam today.
The yatra entered Khammam district at Gangaram village in Sattupalli mandal late last night. Thousands of people, including party workers and leaders, welcomed him.
His yatra covered Mandalapalli Cross Roads, Dammapet, Aswaraopet, Mamillavarigudem, Kukunur, Burgampad, Reddypalem and Bhadrachalam. En route he touched many villages and interacted with public. He also unveiled more than 20 statues of late YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Jagan consoled the family members of 14 persons who died on hearing the news of Rajasekhara Reddy’s death.
He spent more than 30 minutes in each house and tried to boost the confidence of the bereaved family members.
Due to lack of time and security reasons his tour to Velerupad, Kunavaram and Pocharam were cancelled.
Family members of the victim at Velerupad were shifted to Kukunur and Kunavaram and families of victims at Pocharam were shifted to Bhadrachalam.
Jagan addressed public at Aswaraopet circle.
Minister R Venkat Reddy and District Congress president V Venkateswara Rao also participated.
Later, Jaganmohan Reddy offered prayers at Sitarama temple and left for Naxal-hit Nellipaka village of Bhadrachalam division amidst heavy police bandobust.
