The ongoing anti Suresh Gopi tirade picked up pace today when the Cultural Affairs Minister of Kerala, KC Joseph too joined the action by attacking the actor! Not physically of course.. but an equally damaging verbal assault against the star was the dish of the day for the media.
Suresh Gopi brought the heavy fire from the Congress party upon himself with his insulting remarks about the Chief Minister of Kerala and the leader of the Congress party, Oommen Chandy.
The outspoken action hero who is quite passionate about social issues and environmental causes has been known to take public stands on various matters but this one takes the cake by far. Speaking at a function, he ventured in to the controversial topic of the proposed Aranmula Airport project wherein he said that the CM’s stand on the issue was anti environmental and anti people.
He added more fuel to the eventual fire by stating outright that the Chandy’s comments on the issue were completely “senseless” and perhaps he should consult with people who actually know the facts before saying such things.
And voila… we have the actor’s effigies being burned at various places by outraged party members and some units of Congress proclaiming a ban on him and his movies.
It looked like things reached a crescendo when activists of the Youth Congress walked in to a theatre in Kozhikkode yesterday and prevented the screening of the actor’s movie Apothecary, but no…
It seems things are getting worse for the actor.
The Hon. Minister KC Joseph has said that Suresh Gopi is a man who “changes his voice and his colours depending on which party is in power at the centre”!
He also said that Gopi’s comments were in bad taste and of a low level of class.
Ouch.. now that must hurt the actor. He is yet to respond to these attacks against him or deliver an apology of any kind, which the Congress party is adamant about.
Let us see where things go from here now..
