Veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor’s directorial debut ‘Mausam’ starring his son Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor had a good opening Friday (September 23) as it earned approximately Rs.9 crore on the first day, a source revealed.
Made at a budget of Rs.35 crore, the film released in around 1,900 screens and is going strong with 100 percent occupancy.
‘Mausam’ is a love story which shows how a couple is forced to separate because of the socio-political situation around them.
It captures the highs and lows they go through a span of 10 years until they reunite. Shahid Kapoor plays the role of a Punjabi air force pilot while Sonam plays a Kashmiri girl.
The film was supposed to release on September 16 but it was postponed after the delay in getting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Indian Air Force which had objections over a few scenes.(IANS)
