Maqbool Salman is Megastar Mammootty’s nephew and the latest member of the obviously gifted family to enter the ‘acting game’. Maqbool’s father Ibrahimkutty, Mammotty’s brother, is also an actor and a producer known for his work in television. With Dulquar Salman doing well for himself in the industry and building up a huge fan following, his cousin too wants his name on the marquee.
Maqbool grabbed the limelight when he got the chance to play Nivin Pauly’s role in Medulla Oblongata when the actor couldn’t make it due to date clashes. The movie which is being produced by Vendhar Movies, is a remake of the Tamil movie Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (2012) directed by newcomer Balaji Tharaneetharan. Vijay Sethupathi played the lead role in the comedy thriller.
Now, reports are in that Maqbool has another quirky titled movie coming up where supposedly he might be the lead and that movie is Taka Taka Tanka. The mysterious and humorous title apparently refers to something that plays a key role in everyone’s life. Mohammad Rafi is the director for this flick while Marina is to play the female lead. Kalabhavan Mani and Indrans will also appear in pivotal roles in the movie which is being shot primarily in Kochi and Nagercoil. The filming is to officially kick off this month.
Though just a newbie in the industry, Maqbool already has his plate full; there is another upcoming movie for him in the pipeline – simply titled Oru Korean Padam.
While the titles are certainly interesting, we’ll just have to wait for the big releases to see if Mammotty’s family might have another addition to the star list…
