Legendary director Manirathnam’s new project, which is a periodic film based on Tamil novel "Ponniyin Selvan". Now the latest news is that Manirathnam completely called off the Project due to the high budget, the estimated budget for this flick was Rs 200 crores.
Earlier for this flick first we heard the prince Mahesh Babu name in main lead role, later we heard Mahesh Babu replaced by Ramcharan. We also heard that Tamil heroes like Vikram, Vijay names for other lead roles and Anushka as one of the female lead role. Now it seems this project totally stopped because the movie budget would be the risk factor for any Producer to make a film.
Earlier we know the high budget films like Shakthi, Komaram Puli, Khaleja were bombed at box office. So now producers are thinking better to escape from the huge budgets films, otherwise they may face huge losses if movie turned out flop at box office. Recently Ramcharan’e Merupu film and Rana’s film with Selva Raghavan were also called off due to high budget.
Director Mani Rathnam also recalled all this factors and decided to call off this project before starts it seems.
