Akkineni family’s ‘Manam’, the last film starring legend Nageswara Rao, remains a classic in the history of Telugu cinema.
Earlier, plans were made to remake Manam in Bollywood, but they never materialized. Director Vikram Kumar wanted to remake the film in Tamil with Suriya, Karthi and their father but he instead made 24 with the Singam star.
After these failed attempts, now a similar remake attempt is being made in Malayalam film industry. Reportedly, Mammootty is in talks to play the role of Nagarjuna and his son Dulquer Salman is poised to reprise the character of Naga Chaitanya. Senior actor Madhu is considered to play ANR’s role.
Coming to heroines, Nithya Menen for Samantha’s role and Mamata Mohandas for Shriya Saran’s character are in consideration. The project is in nascent stages and it would be a herculean task to bring all these actors on board.
