Boy oh boy, different looks seem to be the one consistent gimmick in Malayalam movies this year, and after Mammootty in the disappointing mega flick Gangster and Mohanlal in the yet to be released, controversial Mr. Fraud – it looks like the dice has fallen to Mammootty again to keep the trend alive, this time for Ranjith Sankar’s Varsham!
Suprisingly, this is neither a thriller nor an action project, but instead a drama; so the distinct looks have a more artistically sensible reason. The story, apparently, depicts one man’s journey through life between the years of 45 and 55, hence the different get ups. Mammootty as always goes through hell and high water to bring authenticity and raw emotional depth to his portrayal.
The film reportedly has two lead female roles, yet to be filled and will start shooting in July with its release targeted in the month of October (on Gandhi Jayanthi according to sources).
The task of cinematography falls to Sujith Vasudev and Bijipal will compose the tunes for this motion picture. The project is being produced in a combined initiative by Mammootty’s own Playhouse and Ranjtih Sankar’s Dreams and Beyond.
The next movie up for release from the megastar is the comedy Manglish and the drama Munnariyippu. After the much criticized performance of Gangster at the box office in spite of its hype inspiring promotional tactics, the Megastar is back in the game, ready to impress and entertain, without missing a beat.
There sure is a reason why the superstars are called as such… Good luck Mammookka!
