Veteran great and Legendary director Bapu died today due to heart attack at Mallar Hospital in Chennai. He was 80. Bapu born on December 15, 1933 and his original name is Satthiraju Lakshmi Narayana. He died on August 31, 2014). In 2013, Bapu was awarded the Padma Shri, for his contribution to Indian art and cinema. He started his career with the film Sakshi in 1967 and his last film is Sri Ramarajyam, which was released in 2011. He got Nandi award also for Sriramarajyam movie.

He used to make films with his friend Mullapudi Venkata Ramana. The duo is famous as Bapu-Ramana. Ramana died in 2011. Bapu directed 51 films in his career.
