A stunt master, who has worked in a number of Kannada movies, has reportedly killed his wife and escaped.
Shivakumar (41), a native of Ramanagaram, has been part of the Kannada film industry for the last 14 years.
He lived with his family in Vasanthappa block of Ganganaghar.
Police said he suspected his wife of infidelity and had taken to drinking heavily.
On Sunday night too, he came home drunk and picked up a fight with his wife and accused her of having a relationship with another man, police added.
His wife, Shobha (36), reportedly ignored his shouts and went to bed.
Shivakumar got a grindstone from the kitchen and smashed it on his wife’s head while she was asleep. The incident happened around 3 am.
The couple’s children woke up at hearing their mother’s screams. Police said they saw their mother lying in a pool of blood and their father standing with the stone.
Shivakumar reportedly told his children to keep quiet and dropped them at Shobha’s parents’ house in RT Nagar. Police said he told them that he would return soon and escaped.
Police said the children, aged 14 and 8, revealed everything to their grandmother when she enquired, seeing them in a very uncomfortable state.
A case has been registered with the RT Nagar police who are on the lookout for Shivakumar.
