Mollywood is buzzing these days with movies that serve as remake materials for other languages – a short count includes Drishyam, Mr Fraud, Idukki Gold, Mumbai Police and now Peruchazhi!
Yes, that’s right – it seems the yet unreleased Mohanlal starrer Peruchazhi too is being remade in Tamil and possibly even in Hindi! And who’s the man behind these adaptations? Well, it’s none other than Kamal Hassan!
Reports indicate that Kamal may remake and star in the Tamil version of Peruchazhi, wherein he’ll essay the lead character played by Mohanlal – that of the Indian politician trying to get ahead in American politics, whilst struggling against the dirty games played by his nemesis, a Minister from Kerala.
In the original of course, Mukesh plays the Minister’s role. Supposedly, in the Hindi version, Sanjay Dutt is being considered for one of these hilarious characters.
Peruchazhi, is being directed by Arun Vaidyanathan and is being produced by Vijay Babu and Sandra Thomas. Interestingly, both the producers are playing minor parts in the movie as actors in order to cut down costs on the production.
The story is mostly set in the US and the crew of Peruchazhi is shooting a month long schedule there to complete filming. This also makes the film the holder of the record for the longest international shoot for a Malayalam movie.
Vijay Babu, recently posted this on his social media page:
“We as producers of peruchazi promise all lalettan fans that we are not leaving any stones unturned to make our movie as entertaining and beautiful as possible.
We need support …and trust!”
Needless to say you have our support sir, wrap it up soon and bring this one home for the fans!
