Actress-turned-politician Jayaprada, who recently quit the Samajwadi Party, is likely to rejoin the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). According to reports, Jayaprada may re-enter the party and may lead the party’s women’s wing Telugu Mahila. According to sources, Jayaprada was in touch with TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu. Naidu is also positive in inviting Jayaprada into the party fold.
Jayaprada had earlier worked as Telugu Mahila president. But, she differed with Naidu and even passed sweeping remarks against him before joining the Samajwadi Paty (SP). After she joined the SP, she was made Rajya Sabha member.
Jayaprada and her political mentor Amar Singh differed with Mulayam Singh and quit the party recently.
Both Jayaprada and Amar Singh tried to join the Congress. But as there was no positive response from the Congress, Jayaprada decided to come to her native State to rejoin the parent party, sources said.
The TDP too is in need of a glamorous candidate for its women’s wing after RK Roja quit the party. Party MLA Seetha Dayakar Reddy was made Telugu Mahila chief but she has not been active. Chandrababu Naidu is leaving for Delhi on Monday to participate in a dharna organised by the Left parties. He may discuss with the actress about her home coming, sources said.
