Getting into film industry is a tough task and it requires a lot of luck with minimal talent. Without luck even an actor on par with the greatest actors of the industry cannot get into the industry. There are many ways to do so. One simple way is having someone influential in the industry or having a powerful and rich background to support. Ganta Ravi Teja who is son of Andhra Pradesh minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao is debuting into industry with Jayadev, a film directed by Jayanth C Paranjee, which is also said to be a remake of Vijay Sethupathi starrer Sethupathi, a Tamil film which was a good hit with a powerful content. This movie is coming into theatres today. Let’s see how it works on us.
Jayadev (Ganta Ravi Teja) is a honest police inspectior who is waiting to get promoted as ACP as he deserved it better than most of his colleagues. He takes up a case where an inspector of another station is killed while filling the place of another inspector in Jayadev’s station. While solving the case he gets to know that the target is the inspector in his station who is on leave and goons killed another policeman thinking him as the target as he is filling his place. After a series of incidents Jayadev gets suspended as a student die and it was a planned incident which was helped by a big shot involved in the murder case of inspector to seek revenge on Jayadev. How he solve the case? Why is he suspended? How he gets back to police department? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.
Cast and performance
Ganta Ravi Teja as Jayadev is okay. The character written for him has a lot of intensity and he failed to make it convincing and he neither performed intense nor looked. He need to develop a lot in terms of his expressions and body language to be called as a hero and an actor. Malvikaa Raj is good with her glamour quotient and her performance has nothing much to talk about. Vinodh Kumar is nice in his role. Posani Krishnamurali and Vennela Kishore tried to generate comedy and they succeeded to a bit. Siva reddy is good and Supreet is nice. All other actors performed to the extent of their roles.
Plot of Jayadev is interesting and it became pale with the mediocre screenplay. Dialogues are okay.
Songs composed by Mani Sharma are okay and no song registers in our mind when we come out of theatres. Background score is good and lifts the mood of the film whenever required. Cinematography is good and there are some well composed shots. Editing is okay and could be better. Action sequences are good. Production values are rich.
Ganta Ravi Teja
Jayadev is the official remake of Vijay Sethupathi starrer “Sethupathi” which was a super hit in Tamil. It’s content is so gripping and interesting which is spoiled in Jayadev with the expressionless hero and unimpressive direction. There is nothing in Telugu remake which qualifies upto the level of Sethupathi. Director is only focused in introducing a son of politician as hero and he failed in executing the gripping story in a convincing and interesting way. Vennela Kishore is only the saving grace of movie and there is nothing more than that to excite about except for the background score by Mani Sharma here and there. Ganta Ravi Teja who is a debut hero needs a lot to improve in him to look as a hero and to be called as an actor. His face always looks expressionless which makes scenes even boring. To sum up, Jayadev is a failed debut.
