Dhanush’s ‘Kolaveri di’, which has become an online rage and also found a fan in Bollywood mega star Amitabh Bachchan, has failed to impress lyricist Javed Akhtar.
The 66-year-old, who has spent more than four decades in the industry and regarded as one of the sought-after lyricists, says that the Tanglish (Tamil and English) song is an insult to sensibilities.
"Kolaveri-D. Every one is praising the robes but the emperor is naked. Tune ordinary, singing substandard, words an insult to sensibility," posted Akhtar on Twitter.
The song, which is a funny take on a heartbreak, is from the Dhanush’s upcoming Tamil movie ‘3’ and has became a craze on internet with over 15 million views on YouTube.
The video shows Dhanush, the son-in-law of superstar Rajinikanth, singing in a studio with composer Anirudh Ravichander, Aishwarya R. Dhanush and co-star Shruti Hassan. The catchy tune has also inspired imitations in different other languages.(PTI)
