HYDERABAD: Locked in a virtual war with the Congress, YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to be sewing up a formidable alliance to foray into Telangana and at the same time, take the battle to the enemy’s camp in Delhi. In short, it seems, he’s forging an alliance with the TRS and the BJP.
Jagan may make his first visit to Telangana after the Kadapa bypolls. Former MLA Ravindranath Reddy told Express that Jagan’s T tour would start from Mahaboobnagar district.
The former MP has not yet spelt out his stand on the Telangana issue, but it is likely that he may want to test the waters by venturing into the region as part of his Odarpu Yatra.
Jagan’s camp is hopeful of making his presence felt in Telangana leaning on the shoulders of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS).
Though it had opposed his visit to Warangal in May last tooth and nail, things have changed since then.
The TRS had, in fact, extended “covert” support to him when he went on a week-long fast at the Indira Park in the State capital for the settlement of the fee reimbursement dues to students. Sources said if at all Jagan has to say anything on T during his tour, it would be in the form of an attack on the Congress “for not settling the issue.” But he would do a tightrope walk taking enough care not to antagonise people in Andhra and Rayalaseema.
Jagan is likely to work on the finer details of his policy on Telangana at the party’s plenary which may be held in Hyderabad after the bypolls.
He does have supporters in Telangana. Congress leader Indrakaran Reddy (Adilabad) and T Jeevan Reddy (Karimnagar) to name a few. His policy, whatever it is, will have to firm up that support.(Expressbuzz)
