NEW DELHI: Against the backdrop of party high command’s disapproval of his ‘yatra’ in Andhra Pradesh, Congress MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, son of late Chief Minister Y S R Reddy, met Congress President Sonia Gandhi today.
Jaganmohan met Gandhi along with his mother Vijaylaxmi and sister Sharmila for around half an hour but evaded the media.
The first leg of Jaganmohan’s yatra, to visit the families of those who allegedly died of shock or committed suicide after YSR’s death, had sparked off violence in Telangana region and the the Congress leadership asked the party MP to desist from continuing it.
The Kadapa MP had then postponed his yatra and issued a statement saying he was hopeful of convincing Congress president Sonia Gandhi and will seek an audience with her.
As by-elections to 10 Assembly constituencies in the state is scheduled for July 27, it is understood that the issue could have cropped up in the meeting as well.(PTI)
