Putting an end to speculation, ‘American Idol’ executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has said that Jennifer Lopez will return as a judge on the next season of the reality show.
Lythgoe confirmed the news on host Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Wednesday, saying all three judges, Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler from the previous season will be back, reported Entertainment Weekly.
"Do you want to do the Jennifer announcement here or are we still waiting?" Seacrest asked Lythgoe. The producer replied, "I believe we’re still waiting for the official announcements but I am delighted to say that all three judges, along with the brilliant host of American Idol, is back for the next season."
Lythgoe added that Lopez, Tyler and Jackson are set to hit the road soon for season-11 auditions in Denver, Houston, St Louis, Portland, San Diego, Pittsburgh and Charleston.
The relationship between Idol and Lopez has been very mutually beneficial, with the 42-year-old pop diva and actress often considered the most popular new addition to the show’s judging team and her profile and record sales having climbed from being on the show.
But figuring out Lopez’s deal has dragged on for weeks and reports are circulating that she has ‘earned’ a 60 per cent raise, signing a USD 20 million contract this time.(PTI)
