Music maestro Ilayaraja’s wife Jeeva died with a heart attack in Chennai on Monday (October 31, 2012) night. She suffered a cardiac arrest after which she was rushed to the Apollo hospital in Chennai where she was declared brought dead, said doctors. She was 57 and is survived by her husband Ilayaraja, sons Karthik Raja, Yuvan Shankar Raja and daughter Bhavatharini. Yuvan Shankar Raja is also a well known music director in south Indian film industry.
Several top personalities of Tamil and other film industries have expressed shock over the sudden death of Jeeva and visited Ilayaraja’s house on Murugesan Street at T Nagar, where the body was kept.
Ilayaraja, who was in Hyderabad to compose music for a Telugu movie, when his wife passed away, took a flight and reached Chennai in the wee hours of today.
Ilayaraja scored the music for the NBK’s upcoming mythological film "Sri Ramarajyam", which will hit the screens shortly.
