Hyderabadi shot dead in USA

A student from Hyderabad, Narote Arun Kumar, was shot dead at a grocery store at Bridgeport in Connecticut, USA, late on Monday night.

Arun (26) was an MS student of the Stratford University. According to information reaching here, he had gone to the US a couple of years ago for studying master’s in software engineering.

His father, Dhondiba Rao, a retired teacher, and mother Sakuntala, elder brothers Avinash and Amar and an elder sister reside in the Karwan area, Mehdipatnam.

The Connecticut Post, a local newspaper, reported that Arun was working as a store clerk at Norman’s Grocery and Delhi in Bridgeport. Two masked men walked into the store on Monday night when Arun was in the store.

Telugu Association of North Andhra (TANA) executive vice-president Prasad Thotakura, in a statement, said, “This is a very unfortunate incident. Though Arun Kumar was working from a bullet-proof cabin, one of the thieves jumped into the cabin through a gap, robbed the cash and shot him in the head though he was not resisting and willing to give away the whole cash register. “ Arun, who did his B.Tech at the Indra Reddy Memorial Engineering College in Hyderabad, was supposed to complete his master’s in a couple of months. He was a resident of Bridgeport and used to attend classes at the Stratford University during weekends.

He would work part-time in Cambridge, CT to support his educational expenses.
