Manju Warrier’s comeback movie directed by Rosshan Andrrews, How Old Are You, came out this Saturday on May 17 and so far it’s been getting a warm reception from the fans and stellar reviews from all major sources!
The movie, which was promoted as the long awaited return of Manju to acting, lived up to its hype with the loyal fan base of the actress which stood by her for the last 14 years giving the movie a huge thumbs up in its opening weekend. There are even reports of the audience applauding at the end of the screening at some shows and in others, fans, especially the female section, leaving jubilant and teary eyed with inspiration and praise for the story.
The actress herself has been overwhelmed at this response and has since appeared on television thanking her fans and the Malayali audience in general. She posted this response along with many of the positive reviews from major publications on her Facebook page:
“Thank you all so, so much for such kind words and love and appreciation. This is so much more than I ever expected from my friends, fans and well wishers. “How old are you” was a very important project for me and I thank you all and humbly accept your verdict of it being a success”
Surely no other actress in recent years has been honoured with this kind of an ardent following in such a male actor oriented industry. Hats off to you, Manju Warrier!
The plot revolves around Nirupama Rajeev, a 36 year old mother and working woman, who is dissatisfied with her life and the legacy she would leave behind, and sets out to pursue a dream, battling the many odds thrown at her and society’s preconceptions and prejudices about women and their age.
Kunchacko Boban plays her husband Rajeev and has been getting rave reviews for his performance in the flick too.
A journey back in to cinema for a talented and charismatic actress, who in some ways embodies the character she plays, and the answer to the prayers of her devoted fans who waited a decade and a half to see her back on screen – evidently How Old Are You has struck a chord with the audience and maybe is here to stay for a while…
