Heavy rains continued to lash coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh on the third consecutive day today even as the state government requested Army, Navy and Air Force to be ready for deployment of its forces in case of any eventuality.
Several areas in East Godavari, West Godavari, Nellore and Visakhapatnam districts were flooded, damaging standing crops, an official release said.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah, who held a review meeting here, directed the administration of the affected districts to initiate measures to prevent loss of life and property.
Alternative communication network such as the Ham Radio network and Satellite phones were kept ready at the disposal of district administration, the release said.(PTI)
