Many movies come and go which are targeted just to entertain audience with songs, fights and some other high moments. It’s very rare that we got to watch movies based on us i.e. our own history, which we are unaware of like Jodha Akbar, Bajirao Mastani in Hindi and Rudhramadevj in Telugu. Now we are witnessing another one in the name of Gauthamiputra Satakarni which is also a landmark film in Nandamuri Bala Krishna career and prestigious project for Krish who is making small budgeted movies. This movie is said to be based on the life story of a king who is unknown and celebrated least among Telugu people. This movie has already a high level of expectations for its trailer and making. Let’s see how it works on us!

Gautamiputra Satakarni Movie Review
Gautamiputra Satakarni Movie Review

Satakarni (Balakrishna) is a son who is well pampered by his mother and is well known for his love towards his mother and everyone underestimates him quoting him as mother’s son who is not meant to battlefield. As a child he misses his father who goes on wars and asks his mother about that. She says that his father went to win other emperor’s. He then vows to her mother that he is going to create a single big empire uniting all the small regions, spreading peace. This has become his life motive and how he achieved that motive forms the rest of the story.

Cast and Performance

Nandamuri Balakrishna is intense and ferocious as Satakarni. He is at his best carrying the movie on his shoulders. His performance is praiseworthy and his dialogues are ear feast for audience. Shriya Saran is apt as Vasisti Devi and has given nice performance. Hemamalini as Gauthami Balasri is superb. She is well fit for the role. Kabir Bedi as Nahapana is nice. Each and every actor did their best to make characters on paper come alive.

Verdict
When the trailer of Gauthamiputra Satakarni released every is amazed with the quality and content and raised expectations. Movie is also nothing less than that in terms of quality and its content. This movie is all about Satakarni, pride of Telugu speaking people and his achievements which are unknown to majority of Telugu people. Director Krish made this movie on a grand scale with amazing quality in not so high budget for its genre and in a very short span of time. He is going to go places with this movie. The way he showed Balakrishna as Satakarni is superb and the dialogues he got from Sai Madhav Burra’s pen are superb. No other director used Sai Madhav Burra’s talent like him and coming days are going to be very busy for Sai Madhav. Gauthamiputra Satakarni is an epic and glorifying tale of a less celebrated king which has many moments to give goosebumps to audience.
