Veteran actor who shone in unconventional roles, Farooq Sheikh passed away yesterday morning because following a cardiac arrest in Dubai. He was 65. Sheikh acted in many films and television shows in a three decade long stint as an actor. Some of his notable films include Chasme Baddoor, Bazaar, Noorie, Umrao Jaan and Lahore. He also won a National Film Award for Best supporting actor in 2010 for his role in Lahore.
The actor’s body has been brought to Mumbai today morning from Dubai and the last rites will be performed today. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
The entire film fraternity in Bollywood expressed shock and grief over his sudden demise. Sheikh made many friends in course of his journey as an actor and was known to be a good human being. He made immense contribution to theater and telly and not just films. One of his famous talk shows on the television was Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, where he interviewed many film personalities, showcasing their personal side to the fans.
The last role played by Farooq Sheikh on the big screen was as Ranbir Kapoor’s father in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani this year. Bollywood has definitely lost one of its brightest stars in the galaxy of acting. Rest in Peace.
