Farhaan, who is the brother of sensational young star Fahadh Faasil and the son of iconic director Faasil, made a very interesting choice to make his debut in to the industry with this film. He plays the role of Steve Lopez, a nineteen year old.
The trailer which lasts for little over a minute has no dialogues in it but merely compelling music set to visuals of what seems like a pretty touching and dramatic story. There is evidently a love story involved as we see Ahaana’s character and Steve in various scenes together kindling what feels like a unique romance. But there is conflict and violence of some kind in the plot too as evidenced by the cleverly sequenced shots of shady characters and poignant faces.
The newcomer that is Farhaan had said that he chose this movie which has no huge promotional machine working for it or an over the top ad campaign but simply its merits as a film, because he wanted to get a footing in the industry and among the fans as his own person, and not as Fahadh’s brother or Faasil’s son.
An admirable sentiment form the young man indeed and one rarely seen these days when many young actors from such families are but looking to be ‘launched’ in to the field.
Njan Steve Lopez is Rajeev Ravi’s second directorial venture, the first one being the successful Fadhadh Faasil starrer Annayum Rasoolum. He had won the national award for cinematography for the Hindi movie Liar’s Dice, which was directed by none other than his wife, Geethu Mohandas.
It is intriguing that Rajeev chose to promote and release this one in such a low key manner, but then this of course speaks to his confidence in the film itself.
The flick is slated for an August release.
